Really fun bistro-style wine bar @mutin_bar in Hannam! This place has been on my list to try for awhile from stalking @imjustjokim’s food posts and it was GOOD! All the bites we had were yummy and came with super friendly chef @alexhongs and staff! The somm was also very good at recommending wines in layman terms 👍. Will definitely return.

IMOK ranks in the top 3 beef meals we’ve had in Seoul, according to my resident beef snob @dan_kcf whose diet variety consists of hanwoomakases and tacos. IMOK serves a course menu of everything smoked (even down to the salad 🫨), whose signature dishes are the 1. beef rib, reminiscent of Texas style BBQ but made with a Korean glaze and slides right off the bone, and 2. iberico bacon, a cross between the burnt ends of a good char siu and the thick cut bacon you’d get from great NY steakhouses. Chef @yooyongwook, who exercises great patience in stopping by every room to put on a show for us, explained he started out cooking for his friends who would post it online and gained some traction. He eventually left his corporate job to open a restaurant and here I am, paying good money to post him on Instagram 😂💸. I was honestly so excited every time he swooped into the room like a messiah with a meat drop 🤲.
When asked what kind of BBQ he enjoys most (expecting something like Texas BBQ), chef @yooyongwook replied Korean BBQ 😂👍.
The general hall dining area consists of bar and table seating and there are a handful of private rooms (where we sat). Courses are currently KRW 140K for hall table or bar; KRW 180K lunch / 220K dinner for room. 12 out of 10 would return ASAP.

대파집 or “scallion house” is a bbq restaurant specializing in thinly sliced pork belly and beef brisket, kept frozen to maintain its shape. Thin cuts result in less waiting time while cooking - maximizing the amount you can eat shove in your mouth per minute 🫨. I love eating it with raw and grilled scallion. Simple and so delicious.

My boss loves to remind me of his excellent taste and that he, not I, is responsible for discovering this gem of a wine bar @restaurant.vinho and introducing it to me 😒😂. This did in fact become one of my favorite spots in Seoul and every visit has been so good. Tasting menu and wine pairings are meticulously prepared by co-owners Sungbin @jeon_sb_ (chef) & Jinho @lino2341 (sommelier), whose names “Bin” and “Ho” come together to become the restaurant name Vinho. Just excellent all around. Double edged sword is that Vinho recently received a much deserved Michelin star 🌟 and is even harder to book now 🤭.

I almost never eat/post lamb but when I do, you know it’s good! @el.molino_sungsu’s menu currently features an excellent grilled lamb rack with the tastiest mole and sweet potato mash. We ordered our usual tacos - iberico, barbacoa, and fish and also tried barbacoa flautas which were deep fried and accompanied with with another great mole that I couldn’t tell you what it was made from. A+ food and service as always (shoutout to the sweet and amazing Carla).

Recommend ordering:
*Mole & lamb rack with sweet potato mash
*Iberico taco with perilla (we ate 7 of these lol)
*Barbacoa taco with pulled beef and feta
*Barbacoa flautas with mole
*Fried fish taco with chipotle mayo, seasonal fruit
*Guac and chips
*Churros (our server recommended pairing with a glass of mole blanco which tasted like chocolate and it was so good!)
*Margaritas (duh)

When I was in NYC, so many people asked if I was going to eat COTE, apparently one of the hottest and priciest Korean BBQ places in the U.S. right now, and I was like uh no I just came from Seoul 😂 where BBQs are a dime a dozen serving the exclusive Hanwoo (Korean beef) that is not exported out of the country. So I’m back at @jowu_official, one of my favorite high end BBQ places for the finest and most mouthwatering Hanwoo in Seoul. First and foremost with my beloved menu item beef katsu sando (sirloin > chateaubriand cut) along with cuts of perfectly cooked sirloin, ribeye and ribeye cap! 🐮

KRW50,000 (USD38) lunch omakase at the newest Sushi Sora branch in Cheongdam. @sushisorabykoji has several locations around the city and is affiliated with @sushikoji.official - one of the best omakases in Seoul - just down the street. I think this might be the cheapest omakase I’ve had to date in Seoul with lunch being KRW50,000 and dinner KRW100,000. Sushi Sora is the affordable brand while Sushi Koji is the high end flagship of the family (with 3x the price and yes you can taste the difference!). Good, economic option without hurting the wallet 👍.
