What to get:
– Pork Buns

I came here at 9pm on a Friday: 2 hour wait. Nope. I came here at 2pm on a Sunday: 1.5 hour wait. Nope. I came here at 11pm on a Tuesday: praise Buddha no wait. Finally.

Hirata Buns ($9 for two pieces; choice of pork or chicken) with Ippudo’s original spicy buns sauce and mayo
Wait, ramen is this place’s specialty? Because these pork buns are definitely what this place does best. I would wait in line for these. The spicy sauce was perfect: flavorful, spicy, tangy, asdfkljds. Get these! Get like ten since you waited in line.

Akamaru Modern Ramen ($15) + Nitamago/Seasoned Salt Boiled Egg ($2)
The ramen here is average. It’s good but it’s not the best. This spicy pork ramen (boiled egg, miso paste, pork chashu, fragrant garlic oil, and vegetables) had the right flavor but it could have been deeper. Just allocate the money to more pork buns.

Matcha Brûlée ($8)
No one seems to be able to make a matcha brûlée with the same texture as a regular creme brûlée (see the disaster that was Kyotofu). Even though the texture wasn’t quite a brûlée, it had really good flavor and was still enjoyable. I would definitely get this again, authentic brûlée or not.
