This one Michelin-starred restaurant is a popular brunch spot in NYC. Public does not take reservations for brunch but the restaurant is very spacious so the wait, if any, should not be too long. I recommend the $24 brunch set, which is a great value because it includes one brunch item from the menu plus a cocktail and coffee or tea (but you can always order a la carte). The Bloody Mary is so fresh and will surely cure a hangover–not that anybody ever has one when they go to brunch.
Amuse Bouche: Mini Scones (Complimentary)
I don’t really think these quite qualify as scones because they tasted like… not scones.
One cocktail and one tea/coffee are included in each brunch set.
The Bloody Mary was fresh, spicy, and proportionately mixed. The salt and pepper rim was just enough. Full of flavor and easy to drink.
The ginger ale cocktail was very refreshing.
Coconut Pancakes ($13 a la carte or $24 brunch set with drinks) with fresh ricotta, mango salad and ginger-lime syrup
The pancake batter was slightly dry but overall I really liked the combination of elements in this dish together.
Turkish Eggs ($10 a la carte or $24 brunch set with drinks) with two poached eggs on Greek yogurt with kirmizi biber butter
A well-known signature dish here and it did not disappoint. It is essentially poached eggs resting in a bed of yogurt and melted chili butter. The sourness of the yogurt was a very interestingly good contrast to the rest of the dish. Nicely done.
Major #yolkporn. The best part is you don’t have to rush to scoop up the yolk after you break the egg because the yolk is suspended in the butter.
