VCleanse 维果清 has opened a cafe called The Flow, which I swear on all my steaks and foie gras that it has really yummy and healthy food. You can get avocado or mushroom toasts, Asian-inspired salads and bowls, smoothies, and of course VCleanse juices by the bottle. The selection of food is small but each recipe is well thought out and tasty.

Please note: cafe is only open on weekdays during office work hours – I believe around 8am-7pm and you need to go to the 1/F reception to get a pass for elevator access with your ID or a copy of your ID on your phone).

The avocado edemame toast (RMB58) with shiso umi, pickled ginger, cucumbers, red radish, bean sprouts and sesame seeds + side salad is my favorite. My friend had the Japanese garden avocado & black rice salad (RMB68) with black and brown rice, edamame, carrots, cucumber, avocado, radish, cilantro, pickled ginger, pepitas, kale, green leaves mix, and sesame tamari ume dressing.

As for the cold-pressed juices, I don’t drink them exclusively as a cleanse (that would be horrid for a religious meat eater); instead, I drink a few bottles throughout the day and eat one meal. This is my weekday routine that works for me: I order a box of about 20 juices for the week – each day I drink 2 bottles of spicy lemonade (RMB28)(lemon, agave nectar, cayenne pepper), 1 bottle of bitter green (RMB50)(green apple, spinach, kiwi, dandelion, bitter melon), and 1 bottle of passionate yellow (RMB50)(carrot, jicama, orange, passion fruit, lemon) and eat a regular meal either lunch or dinner depending on my workout class schedule.

So one time I made the mistake of going to the cafe thinking I could haul back 8 bottles of juice back home on a bicycle. It was so heavy. If you are going to get more than a few bottles, just plan ahead and order a week’s worth of juice online and have it delivered to the office.
