Table No. 1 by Jason Atherton has reopened following a brief recess for renovation. We unknowingly decided to eat at Table No. 1 when Jason Atherton happened to be in the kitchen with head chef Christopher Pitts.
We ordered a deceivingly small amount of plates (or I thought) to share. Great presentation and vibrant colors on the plates. All delicious. We were sadly so stuffed that we didn’t even make it to mains, which will definitely be a reason to return.
Pistachio dip, focaccia bread (RMB¥48)
Recommend: yes
When our server first suggested this to us stating it is “light and refreshing,” I stared at him like are you serious, this sounds like a creamy dip. Nope, he was right.
Tuna tar tar, avocado, ponzu (RMB¥110)
Recommend: yes
Simple formula — fresh tuna, avocado, ponzu sauce — spot on (or is it on fleek these days).
Crispy pig ears fried, shaved cauliflower, shichimi chili (RMB¥58)
Recommend: yes
Spicy bite size snacks.
Chicken skin crisps (RMB¥38)
Recommend: no
The only disappointment of the meal was this fried chicken skin, which was more batter than skin.
Beef tongue and tail bbq, eggplant, smoked honey sauce (RMB¥128)
Recommend: yes
On the heavier side, giant slabs of beef tongue and beef croquette.
Pan seared foie gras, duck ham, corn blini, strawberry jam (RMB¥128)
Recommend: yes
Probably my favorite dish of the meal with a bit of savory foie gras countered by sweet strawberry jam. ON FLEEK.

Wonder why they decided to fry chicken skin with batter… that stuff crisps beautifully on its own with just abit of seasoning.
